Artist in Residence: Allison Dayka

Allison Dayka is a 24-year old Brooklyn-based artist and designer. Born and raised in Upstate, New York she developed a life long dedication to art and fashion. Following her graduation, Allison moved to Brooklyn to pursue a degree in Communications and more importantly care for her Great Aunt. It was during this difficult time that Allison discovered her ability to express her inner most emotions through paint strokes on a canvas. Allison works with acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Her competitive advantage is her ability to create pieces that are simultaneously thought provoking and controversial. All Allison Dayka pieces are uniquely inspired and one-of-a-kind. If any of the artwork you have witnessed has kindled your spirit or roused your passion, please reach out to Allison directly to arrange a personal consultation for your custom designed creation. She can be reached via email at allisondayka@gmail.com or by phone...

Last time you listened to an 8-track?

Our friends over at Birthdays and Bottles are void-fillers. They like serving and dreaming. They’re ideal seekers. And they started a business from a need they saw…pretty awesome stuff. They also have great taste in music. Joshua, founder, talks about how it all began…   As our service is free and offers the client a better deal and overall experience than if they were to plan something on their own, it is a true win-win. Most of the time when people hear something that sounds to good to be true, they shy away and may not give you the opportunity to prove yourself. We experienced this when we first started offering our service but moved on from it quickly after establishing a sound reputation in party and event planning. Once you’re a proven concept, the word spreads and a potential client’s wariness ceases to exist or be an issue.  On a personal level, we wanted to build a company that embodied our outlook when it came to what one’s experience of planning a party or event in New York should be. That lead to the birth of our fun and easy-to-use service that is operated by helpful and honest professionals, while at no cost to the client. As entrepreneurs, there’s nothing quite as gratifying as identifying a void in a particular market and then filling it with your vision and passion.   We’re totally on board with that! Do you do anything other than party planning at the moment?  Anyone just starting out in our industry who may looking for advice along the way is strongly recommended to contact myself or anyone...

Artist in Residence: Alexander Pedigo

Alexander Pedigo is a photographer based in New York City focusing in travel portraits and landscapes. Due to his love for both the foreign and the familiar, his photographs strive to connect and impact people in the same way he is impacted in capturing them.   “High Desert” is series photographed in the Ladakh Mountain Range in Indian-administered Kashmir, along the borders of Tibet. The extreme altitudes of the region are among the highest in the world, lifting any visitor into a spiritual trance. “High Desert” beckons the viewer to reflect on our life as a pilgrim on this planet; sojourning forward and upward.    You can check out a preview of Alexander’s work here and then stop by our shop on the Upper West Side and check out this debut series!  ...

Celebration Time!

We are incredibly excited to share with you with an invitation to the Opening Celebration for our 4th shop! That’s right, our baby Birch4 is open and rockin’ the Upper East Side on 62nd street just off of Lexington! On Wednesday September 10th we are going to have an intimate little gathering starting at 5 pm. Jeremy and Paul will be chatting on all things small biz, coffee, and life. This will be followed by an open Q & A. If you’ve stopped by, you know the space is a quaint one, so the availability for the Talk Back will be limited to 20. Please RSVP to sarah@birchcoffee.com if you’d like to attend, and how many people you will be attending with. After the talk back, around 6 pm, it will be an open party to celebrate YOU. Because let’s be honest, it’s your love and support that lead us to being able to send out this email in the first place. This will go until around 8 pm, we’ll have some drinks, some snacks, some dance moves, and plenty of laughs to go around. (No RSVP necessary, let’s bring a crowd!) We’re excited to celebrate the incredible community you have created, and surrounded us with, and look forward to seeing you on the 10th!   Your Birch Family. P.S. This coming Tuesday, September 2nd from 7-9, we’re hosting another TRIVIA NIGHT on the UWS. All things MUSIC this round. You can send Sarah an email to RSVP your team.
